The patient participation group (PPG) was formed in 2011 by invitation from the practice. The practice ensured a fair representation of patients.
Any patient registered with the practice is now welcome to join the group, which also includes members of the practice team. If you wish to join the PPG please contact Lisa Hamling or enquire at the reception desk:

Briefly, the aims of the PPG are:
- Provide a two-way communication channel between practice and patients
- Consult patients about proposals for change and obtain opinions
- Invite patients to put questions and ideas to the PPG
- Assist the practice in making patients aware of new initiatives
The patient participation report section details the actions agreed with the group after analysis of the annual patient surveys carried out during the period 2011-15. These included a successful trial of a telephone consultation appointment system (now fully operational), the introduction of SMS text messaging for patients, an information screen for the downstairs waiting area, and improvements to the upstairs waiting area. A sub committee was formed to investigate the impact on GP surgeries of the increasing number of housing developments planned for the practice area.
A survey has not been done since 2015, as we have implemented a suggestion/comments box in the waiting room, and also have the Friends and Family Test NHSE Survey running. In recent years volunteers from the group have spent time in the practice promoting the online appointment booking and prescription ordering services, and encouraging patients to sign up for the enhanced summary care record.
