1. Welcome & Apologies

No apologies received. All members of the group confirmed who they are.

2. Minutes of Last Meeting

Agreed as correct.

3. Dementia Presentation

Simon Foster gave a presentation to the group regarding the voluntary work he and others do with people diagnosed with dementia. The group works with Parkway Cinema to arrange dementia friendly screenings and other activities. Simon agreed for his email to be sent to members if anyone wants to volunteer.  [Simon Foster <srfoster@srfoster.karoo.co.uk>]

4. Covid Spring Booster

Eligible to patients 75 years and above, plus patients on immunosuppressants aged 5 years plus. The programme starts on 3 April 2023 with the first 2 weeks on care home patients solely, and general vaccinations starting on 17 April 2023. The Practice is awaiting vaccine delivery dates and cannot plan weekend clinics until the dates are known. National Vaccination Centres will be taking bookings on NBS.

The vaccine supplied “Sanofi Vaccine” is a new Covid vaccine with a fish “animal” based product present. This will need advertising at clinics. No adverse reactions known and at the present time this is the only vaccine being offered by NHSE.

Clinic dates will be advertised when known.

5. PCN / Practice Update

The PCN continues to recruit new staff to be used by all the Beverley PCN Practices.  Funding for new staff is being directed to PCNs rather than Practices. The Practice is fully staffed with 8 Partners and the biggest issue facing the Practice is space to “house” PCN staff and the expected increase in utilities.

Morale within the staff continues to be good as we all support each other.

6. Any Other Business

Upstairs waiting room

Suggestion for a “panic button” in the upstairs waiting room. After discussion it was agreed to look at some form of Ring doorbell or something similar. Lisa to progress.

HYMS placements

The Practice works with the Hull York Medical School to provide placement opportunities. Appointments with final year medical students who are on the Medical Register are sometimes offered to patients.

Next meeting to be held on Wednesday 27th September 2023
